National Partnerships and the Girls Not Brides secretariat

 In order to ensure that the national and global partnerships share a common vision and mission, and are working towards common objectives, it is essential to maintain open and efficient relations between National Partnerships and the Girls Not Brides secretariat.

To that end, the Girls Not Brides secretariat and the National Partnership coordinator(s) commit to working together around the following areas:

  1. Establishing efficient communications channels
  1. Both parties will designate a contact person(s) who will be responsible for ensuring that communication is sustained and information is shared effectively. Contact persons will agree on a preferred channel for keeping each other updated on a regular basis (options include periodic calls or email reports).
  2. The Girls Not Brides secretariat’s contact person will share regular updates and information about the work and plans of the global partnership.
  • The National Partnership’s contact person will share regular updates about the work and plans of the group. The contact person will provide information in writing on its activities and development to the Girls Not Brides secretariat at the end of each year for use in the Girls Not Brides annual report and other materials.
  1. The National Partnership’s contact person will keep the global secretariat updated on fundraising activities to allow for harmonized engagement of Girls Not Brides with donors.
  2. Information shared could include a recap of recent activities, an update on plans and critical reflections on the impact and lessons learned of the work at the global and national levels. Each party agrees to respect the confidential nature of the information, when this is requested.
  3. Supporting each other’s work
  4. The Girls Not Brides secretariat will help amplify the work of the National Partnership and make it visible to other Girls Not Brides members, partners, and the general public.
  5. The Girls Not Brides secretariat will facilitate communication and cross learning among National Partnerships from various countries, and with relevant members and partner organizations.
  • As appropriate and if requested, the Girls Not Brides secretariat will provide information and guidance on strategic planning, advocacy and communications.
  1. The Girls Not Brides secretariat will inform the National Partnership coordinator(s) of new members of the global partnership with offices in their country.
  2. The National Partnership coordinator(s) will encourage organizations working or planning to work on child marriage those who show interest in the global partnership to contact the Girls Not Brides secretariat.
  3. The coordinator(s) of the National Partnership will help members better understand the work and plans of Girls Not Brides by sharing updates, lessons learned and other documents, as appropriate.
  1. Strategizing together on how to best advance our common agenda
  1. The Girls Not Brides secretariat and the National Partnership coordinator(s) will ensure that their messages and strategies are coherent and advance the common goals of the global movement to end child marriage.
  2. The National Partnership coordinator(s) and the Girls Not Brides secretariat will keep each other informed of strategic opportunities to advance the common agenda at all levels, and discuss opportunities to collaborate around specific collective advocacy moments.
  • The Girls Not Brides secretariat will consult with the National Partnership coordinator(s) on a regular basis to help shape the overall strategic orientations of Girls Not Brides. The Girls Not Brides secretariat will reach out to the National Partnership coordinator(s) for advice on country-specific perspectives and messaging, as appropriate.
  1. The National Partnership coordinator(s) will help to implement the Girls Not Brides global strategy, and spread the movement’s messages in country, in order to advance our common agenda.
